IS YOUR THIRD PARTY RISK MANAGEMENT JUST A BAND-AID, WHILE THE REAL RISKS ARE STILL EXPOSED?

Mobius Consulting hosted a Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) breakfast session, bringing together risk leaders and security practitioners to challenge a critical question: Is your TPRM just a band-aid while the real risks are still exposed? A key theme from the discussion was that many organisations have shifted into a compliance-driven approach, relying on static questionnaires and “green” risk ratings that fail to reflect real-world supplier risk in a fast-moving, interconnected environment.

The session highlighted that this “band-aid” approach can create a false sense of security where due diligence is performed, but underlying risks such as third-party dependencies, data exposure and operational vulnerabilities remain unaddressed. Moving forward, organisations need to shift beyond point-in-time assessments and towards a more dynamic, insight-driven approach to TPRM, one that strengthens visibility, enhances resilience, and aligns risk management with real operational exposure.
